Dalai Lama is playing with words: People's Daily

Beijing, April 27 (Xinhua): The Dalai Lama was criticised Sunday in an article in the mouthpiece of the Communist Party of China as "playing with words" to drum up the so-called Tibet issue.

The People's Daily in a commentary said the Dalai clique has not given up their secessionist attempts and has been using expressions to confuse the readers about their covert intention which is Tibetan independence.

Tibet is an inalienable part of China and no government in the world has recognized the so-called "Tibetan independence movement", the daily said in an article.

They have been using expressions like the "middle path" and "high autonomy" to attract attention to their real intention, it said.

National unification and ethnic unity is in the fundamental interests of the Chinese people, the article said.
