The President today, called on every individual and especially the youth of the country to secure a gainful employment. The President made the statement in his speech at the inauguration of the “Kissaru 2007” Employment Fair.

Speaking at the meeting the President highlighted the issue of providing employment opportunities for the youth in the Maldives. He said that at a time of increasing educational and training opportunities, it was vital to facilitate employment opportunities for the youth when they are ready to enter the job market. Given that the majority of the country’s population is youth, the President said that the government gives high priority to find employment for them.

In his speech, the President stressed on the importance of fulfilling the duties and responsibilities of the job to the best of the person’s ability with utmost honesty and diligence. The President also reminded the youth of the country, that advancement in a job can only be achieved through sincere performance.

In his welcoming remarks, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr. Mohamed Waheedudeen said that the Fair will be a gateway to employment for the youth. He also called on the youth to attend the fair and to benefit from it. The Minister also noted the high priority accorded to youth development by the President, and thanked him for it.

After the inauguration of the “Kissaru 2007” Fair, the President launched the Smart Career Portal Website. The President then toured the Fair and enquired about the employment opportunities.
